All in 1 card

mysaymk - MK Youth Cabinet logoWhat is the All in 1 Card?

The All in 1 card is a Milton Keynes Council project, supported by Milton Keynes Youth Cabinet who campaigned for the creation of the card.

There are around 22,000 11 to 19 year olds in the Milton Keynes borough in full time education, meeting the criteria for card holders.
The card is made by young people for young people and will include the following;
1) A form of Valid ID
2) Concessionary bus fares
3) Discounts and deals in shops and restaurants in MK

How will the card work?·
The card will be available free of charge to all 11- 19 year olds in full time education in the borough of Milton Keynes.
· On one side the card will be a form of ID that will also act as a bus ID card. On the reverse side it will show our own design including the Milton Keynes Council logo, Youth Cabinet logo and Youth Bank logo and the All in One Card website address www.mysaymk.com
· The card will be a credit card size and will be printed by Novacroft which are a local company. The card would have a PASS logo which is recognised nationally; local police and trading standards endorse and support this.
· Application forms will be available from from schools, colleges, libraries and other outlets later in 2010 and must be stamped by the education provider. Check back here to find out when they are available.
· We will also have our website that will be updated regularly; we will use this to make people aware of new discounts special offers and events.

How do we know the All in 1 Card will be successful?·
A similar All in One card has already been successful in West Sussex - check out www.yourspacewestsussex.co.uk - after being introduced by their local Youth Cabinet in autumn 2007, since launching they have issued 35,000 cards which are actively in use and this number is always increasing
· Currently they have 141 shops and business offering deals and discounts to young people who hold the card and that number is expanding.

How will the card benefit local retail businesses?·
Firstly it is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to become involved in a project supporting the needs of the young people in Milton Keynes,
· Secondly, more young people will be able to access Central Milton Keynes because of the discounted bus journeys, and will have more money available because of the cheaper fare (35p compared to a previous fare of £1.70)
· Young people are more likely to use their money in a company that they see to be offering discounts to them, because of the discounts/deals, and also because of the companies attitude in supporting local young people
· It will further benefit retailers as the card will be a valid form of ID (it has the support of the police and trading standards) so it will assist in reducing sales of age restricted products to underage people
· The companies who are offering discounts/deals will be able to advertise on our All in One website, which will list all businesses that are offering deals to the young card holders
· We are aiming to send a monthly email newsletter to all of the cardholders which new company's will be featured in and existing companies will be able to give out information about events or special offers targeting young people.

What we are asking for from local retailers?·
We would like your support through offering special discounts or deals, this could be whatever you can offer and can be changed to suit your requirements.
· If you already offer a discount for NUS extra card it would seem appropriate to extend your discount to the All in 1 card scheme
